DESCRIPTION: Black Forest shelf or bracket clock, spring powered time and strike movement of unknown duration, with brass bushed wooden plates, recoil escapement and count wheel striking on a gong, brass shell pendulum with wood and metal rod, white painted Roman numeral dial with black painted steel hands, the dial mounted to a walnut veneered board with brass line and star inlay, and finished with a gilt ogee molding, protected by a ripple molded door with glass, walnut veneered spruce case with ripple molding at top, and brass inlaid bombe base, door in left side of case for strike correction, c1860
CONDITION: Movement good with functional time and strike trains, a bit dirty, pinions on the back ends of the winding arbors are present, while the parts they drive are not, probably stop work components, pendulum replaced, dial with touch ups, flaking, and repainted center, dial may be replaced, hands replaced, one piece of brass inlay missing to left of dial and 3 pieces missing from base, gilt molding very good, case refinished, one veneer loss at front left side of base, finish with some scratches Ht 16"
